Can You Eat Sushi with Braces?

Sushi looks scary with braces, but most rolls are friendlier than you think. The trick is choosing soft, non sticky options and learning a calmer way to bite.
What is brace safe at the sushi counter
Soft maki rolls with cucumber, avocado, salmon or tuna are easy choices. Sashimi over rice works too if you cut larger pieces in half before eating.
Avoid tempura rolls, sesame brittle crusts, hard rice crackers and anything finished with peanut crunch.
How to bite without snapping a bracket
Cut each piece in half with chopsticks or a fork before lifting it. Chew with your back teeth, not your front.
If a roll is dense, take a smaller bite than usual. Two small bites beats one heroic one.
Aligner specific notes
Pop trays out, eat normally, then brush and rinse before putting trays back in. Soy sauce stains plastic quickly, so do not skip the rinse.
Honest reviews take time to write and longer to verify. If a recommendation here saves you money or hassle, share the post with someone else in trays or brackets.
